The stalwart of Bengali news broadcasting media industry, who has revolutionized this regional news space with his Midas touch covering from Nandigram to Suchitra Sen and everything in between, Mr Suman De needs no separate introduction. His distinctive style is integral to the way Bengal consumes its daily news today. People across the political spectrum may agree or disagree with his pragmatic stance on critical issues, but one can ignore his powerful presentation. No sooner did he foray into television journalism from print media in 1998 and then as a special correspondent of Zee News, than started his meteoric rise first as the Eastern Region Chief of Bureau of Star News which he joined in 2002, and later as the Editor of then then ‘Star Ananda’, the first Bengali News Channel in 2005. He currently plies his trade as the Executive Vice President of ABP Ananda. He manages to take time out of his professional commitments to pursue extensive studies and his passion for painting and has also penned several books on various subjects.
Mr De decided to follow his journalistic instincts and make a career out of it as early as fifth standard. He found himself regularly contributing to English daily ‘The Statesman’ from school life while his television debut came while he was still in University. His illustrious career across print and audio-visual media has already spanned almost three decades.
When he is not busy analyzing news down to the bits and pieces, he likes to travel, based on which he has already published several books. His alter ego is known to be a full-fledged family man, with close-knit family members constituting his support system from whom he derives the best inspiration.
